Where Briae stands on the
Issues
-
Federal Overreach
Briae is not afraid to speak out against federal overreach that affects our city. She firmly believes that ICE has no place in Corvallis and that there should not be a federal detention facility in Newport. Briae strongly supports the Corvallis Police Department’s decision to follow state law and not cooperate with Federal Immigration. As an openly gay black woman, Briae knows that being a welcoming community matters! Briae was pictured on national Fox News when Corvallis passed a resolution declaring Corvallis a sanctuary city for trans and intersex folks and she stands by that vote in support of Corvallis’ trans community.
-
Housing
Briae knows from personal experience that the cost of rent in Corvallis is too high! She is committed to supporting housing developments across the housing spectrum: from single family homes to apartments and from town houses to affordable housing units. Briae has voted to develop tools the city can use to incentivize new housing, and will continue to advocate for new, affordable homes.
-
Transportation
As a regular user of Corvallis’ fareless transit system, Briae knows how important it is to have efficient busses that run on time. Briae is always focused on how she can support transportation alternatives to single occupancy cars. Alternatives like support for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and safety.
-
Supporting Downtown
Briae supports a thriving downtown in Corvallis! She is a regular patron at downtown businesses and regularly promotes downtown events and activities. She supports an Urban Renewal district for downtown Corvallis which would allow for further public-private partnerships and direct investments in a thriving downtown.
-
Climate Action
Climate change is an existential threat and Briae knows it. She stands as a steadfast voice and vote in favor of common sense climate policies and moving Corvallis, both the government and the community, toward a greener, more sustainable future.
